Tues 4th Aug 2020 - Visible Image - Summer Wings Transformation

Today I am sharing a quick and simple card - the black and white butterflies transform as they fly through a coloured band and pick up their beautiful new shades of green and blue.

I've used the quirky new Visible Image Summer Wings stamps and Entwined Butterflies stencil. Just two colours of Distress Oxides Mermaid Lagoon and Twisted Citron.
Please excuse the state of my masking tape, I'm a bit thrifty with it.

Here is today's project....

To begin, cut a piece of white card 10" x 7", score and fold at 5" to make a 5" x 7" card blank. I've used 300gsm premium smooth white card.

Fix the card blank to your craft mat to stop it from moving with a little masking tape on the inside and at the top and bottom,

Mask off a 2 inch section of card with tape, approx 1 1/2" from the base.

Place your Visible Image Entwined Butterflies stencil down over the card and it tape down.

Apply Mermaid Lagoon over parts of the masked off section with a foam applicator. Hold down the butterfly outlines while you apply ink in a pounce and squish motion.

Apply Twisted Citron Distress Oxide to the white patches, blending the colours where they meet.

Flick a few drops of water over the ink with a brush and dry with a paper towel.

Carefully peel back all of the masking tape. (I store mine of the bottom of my cutting mat, it keeps them flat)

Your card will look a bit like this.

Stamp the butterflies from the Visible Image Summer Wings stamp set across the card like so and stamp the larger one and the closed wings one onto scrap white card.

Use your blending tool to apply Mermaid Lagoon and Twisted Citron ink onto the scrap paper stamps and cut out. Snip off the antennae and also the bit of wing at the back of folded wings one.

You will only need one of each butterfly.

Fill in the butterfly body with black pen and go over any of the stamped lines if they aren't dark enough.
Add some dots and highlights with a white pen.

Stamp the metamorphosis sentiment from the Visible Image Wings of Change onto a piece of white card and matt it to onto a larger piece of black card, about 1/16  inch black edge.

Use a little of the oxide ink to colour in the bubbles on the sentiment and also to colour in the wings of the top 2 stamped butterflies on your card.

Shape your cut out butterflies to lift their wings and glue them over your stamped images. Use a blob of 3D glue gel on the wings to keep them lifted and pva on the centre of the big butterfly and on the black body which then glue flat to the card.

Use foam tape to fix the raised sentiment at the bottom left hand side slightly overhanging the inked portion.

I've added a couple of green gems at the top LHS to finish it off.

I hope you have enjoyed this demo and inspired you to have a go, please come and share your creations with us on the Visible Image facebook group.
Thank you so much for dropping by,
