CE Designer Boutique - Golden Jewelled Butterfly Blooms

Using the Butterfly Blooms (UMSDB043) stamp from Creative Expressions Designer Boutique to make this metallic, decoupaged card - love this technique, it looks like jewels.

Cut a piece of black card 5 1/2" x 5 1/2".
Wipe over with an anti static bag.

Stamp the Butterfly Blooms stamp diagonally across the card using versamark ink.

Heat emboss with bright gold embossing powder.

Stamp and gold heat emboss another full butterfly bloom onto black card and then just the butterfly wing/body onto a smaller piece of black card.

Stamp a sentiment in versamark and heat emboss with gold as before.

Spritz the Cosmic Shimmer iridescent watercolour palette with water to wake up the paint and leave for a few minutes.

Create a swatch card to see how each of the paints looks on black card - they are totally different to how they look in the palette.

In the Autumn Sunrise palette - Tropic Yellow is a beautiful green, Red Blaze is blue/purple

Any of the iridescent watercolour palettes  work perfectly with this technique.

Add a drop of water to the colours you've chosen and use a damp paint brush.

Paint all three stamped images using the iridescent watercolours. The gold embossed lines will repel the watercolour as long as it isn't too thick. Dab off any excess paint with a paper towel.

Apply a second coat to deepen and change the colours. These paints are amazing.

When the paint has dried, buff over the images with a dry paper towel.

This will help remove any dried paint sitting on top of the embossed lines and brings out the metallic shine.

Use pva glue/double sided tape to fix the painted square onto gold miri card with a border of 1/16".

Matt onto black card with a border of 1/4"  and then fix it onto a white 7" x 7" card blank.

Use a Clear Star gelly roll pen to draw faux stitching around the edge of the stamped panel.

Cut out the butterfly wing and body from the second stamped and embossed image.

Use the back of a mouse pad or flower moulding foam to shape the butterfly.

Use the top of the gel pen to roll around the back of the wings.

Crease where the body meets the wings.

Apply pva glue to the body and 3d glue gel to the wings.

Fix the wing to the panel so that the butterfly body is flat and the wings raised.

Hold the body in place for 30 seconds or so until the pva glue grabs.

Cut out the third butterfly wing, snip away the outmost sections. mould as before and attach the smaller wing with pva glue and 3d glue gel.

Fussy cut out each flower in turn.
Snip between the petals to allow them to move while you curl them.

Don't worry about some of the petals being incomplete, they will still look fab when moulded.

Roll over the back of the flower with a ball tool or top of the gelly pen in a circular motion.

This curls the petals backwards.

Turn the flower over and press in the centre with the tip of your paint brush.

Apply a blob of 3d glue gel to the back of the flower and position it over the corresponding stamped flower.

Carry on snipping out, moulding and 3d glue gelling until they are all done.

The glue gel will take at least 30 minutes to start to set.

While the glue gel is drying, carefully apply glossy accents to the stamped circles.

Move the card around to do each section in turn and avoid touching or moving the decoupaged pieces.

Dot a few extra glossy accents around the stamped image - to add extra interest and hide any glue or paint marks.

Allow the glossy accents to dry for several hours, ideally overnight before adding a sentiment at the bottom right of the card.

Add a couple of gold adhesive gems to the top left to add balance.

The layers....

Admire your finished card

I hope you have enjoyed this project and thanks for stopping by ðŸ’–,
